Long before giant polygonal ships populated by gamer avatars crossed the digital universe or tuned 3D cars crashed over photorealistic open-world asphalt, our best friends were a few pixels after work.
At first, our friends were pretty clunky, but gradually they took shape and formed into beautiful, timeless artworks that peaked on Nintendo's 16-bit SNES.
The PIXEL BOOK is a memorial to this unforgettable era. For more than three years, the authors Robert Bannert and Christine Bauer have worked with the help of retro-professional Thomas Nickel on the 268-page work, tirelessly evaluated and edited almost 100,000 screen shots exclusively made for this book and converted them to level maps and huge pixel images. Artworks put together.
There are extensive articles and analyses as well as an introductory chapter of "Deponia" - or "Edna bricht aus" mastermind Jan "Poki" Müller-Michaelis.
The hardcover PIXELBOOK comes with high quality thread binding and is printed on 135 gram paper.
The book is completely in German, an English version is planned for the end of the year.
